Knobloch’s Mountain Kingsnake, Lampropeltis knoblochi
A hatchling Knobloch’s Mountain Kingsnake from Pima County, AZ. It is one of two species of tricolor kingsnakes found in Arizona. Knobloch’s Mountain Kingsnake inhabits oak savanna and mixed coniferous forest at elevations of 1130 m to 2881 m. However, it may use arroyos and streams to reach lower elevations in more arid semi-desert grasslands. Rock crevices and forest leaf litter are usually where it can be seen, but it will climb trees in search of lizards, birds, and mammals.
